Weekly EPQ Update
This Week:
Monday- EPQ lecture on consent, bias and primary research. I have decided to not do primary research as I risk breaching on sensitive topics and don't think think I would be able collect substantial enough data for it to be effective in my essay.
Tuesday- I listened to The Health Gap – Exploring gender inequalities in UK healthcare podcast episode on the train to and from school.
Wednesday- I spent time evaluating what referencing method would be most beneficial for me Harvard or footnotes.
Thursday- I had a maths test so spent extra time revising for that.
Friday- Watched the TedTalk Breaking the Silence on Women's Health | Ann-Marie de Lange
Saturday- I was suppose to evaluate my sources that I have looked into so far but found it hard to motivate myself as I found the process rather confusing to get my head around so instead began to look into different methods of evaluation.
Sunday- I wrote my weekly blog and published it.
Gantt Chart:
This week I have kept on track with my Gantt chart as i have continued researching and making sure all my sources have correct citations. The only minor setback I had was a maths test but I instead scheduled around this as I had put the test in my calendar so I could schedule what hours I want to spend on EPQ around the test as I was prepared this time.
What went well:
I was able to not let the test conflict with my EPQ time as I was better prepared and scheduled it in I advanced so I didn't get off course. I have also been exploring different types of sources and evaluating how I personally take in information and if I benefitted from the videos of the TedTalk and the visual element or the auditory aspect of the podcast. Personally, i found a video easier to take in information from it visually being presented as I found it easier to remember and stay focused on the video rather than when listening to the podcast I found myself losing focus and getting distracted.
Things to improve on:
This week I found it hard to start analysing my sources and started putting it off. I think this is due to the fact I didn't understand the process. So next week I am going to look into different ways of evaluating my sources.
