Weekly EPQ Update

This Week:

Monday- Evaluated 1 source and then visited family.

Tuesday- I was suppose to evaluate 2 more sources but took an extra day at work so was unable to get it done.

Wednesday- Christmas Eve!!!

Thursday- Christmas!!!

Friday- Boxing Day!!!

Saturday- I had scheduled this day for no EPQ or school work.

Sunday- Evaluated 3 sources and adjusted Gantt chart.

This week I made modifications to be Gantt chart as I was falling behind on the original plan and considered it unachievable to catch up so decided I needed to extend my research period and stat writing my first draft later. 
Over the Christmas holiday I did less work that what was first planned and didn't feel ready to begin writing as I felt that my research still had gaps that needed to be filled first. I have extended the research and citation by a week til the 13th of January and postponed writing til the 4th of January as I believe then I will have some sections fully researched.


What went well:
I was able to adjust my Gantt chart to work for me by extending certain areas but to still be able to meet the preset deadline for first draft on the 29th however I will miss my personal deadline of the 25th but it will still get done on time for the exams office.


Things to improve on:
As I have fallen behind moving forward I need to dedicate more hours a week to EPQ as more needs to get done. I will also need to better time manage outside of the school term as when at school I find it easier to keep on track but in the school holidays I find it easy to fall behind due to other commitments such as work.

Preliminary Research

18/09/25 Preliminary Research  Before deciding on a final idea I have done some preliminary research on my initial ideas so that I can see how easily it is to find potential resources for my EPQ. Through doing this I have discovered that that the gap in women's healthcare is more documented in modern times and there is not much on the history of women's healthcare. There is also lots of books available. How chemicals react with brain is harder to research specifically as a lot of articles were about drug abuse and not medicinal drugs such as antidepressants which I would want to focus on. The history of plastic surgery when research had many available articles but not many other resources such as books and podcasts so I couldn't vary my resources as much. Also the Hippocratic Oath would have to researched for the American healthcare system so it was hard to find articles and more complicated to research.
