04/01/26 Weekly EPQ Update  This Week: Monday- Research into UK policies in place already and their effectiveness. Tuesday- At work most of the day so only evaluated 1 source. Wednesday- New Years Eve!!! Thursday- New Years Day!!! Friday- Research into statistical impacts to women due to the gender health gap in the UK. Saturday- Evaluated 5 sources. Sunday- First box of the mid project review completed. Gantt Chart: I have made no modification to my Gantt chart but have decided to start writing my causes of the gender health gap after my mid project review meeting with my supervisor. What went well: This week was all about catching up from Christmas while still enjoying the new year.  Comparatively to Christmas I was better able to time manage and schedule to get more work done and still celebrate the new year as I looked individually at each when it was possible to get work done and set my self realistic goals for the days so I didn't feel guilty and then unmotivated i...

Weekly EPQ Update

28/12/25 Weekly EPQ Update This Week: Monday- Evaluated 1 source and then visited family. Tuesday- I was suppose to evaluate 2 more sources but took an extra day at work so was unable to get it done. Wednesday- Christmas Eve!!! Thursday- Christmas!!! Friday- Boxing Day!!! Saturday- I had scheduled this day for no EPQ or school work. Sunday- Evaluated 3 sources and adjusted Gantt chart. Gantt Chart:   This week I made modifications to be Gantt chart as I was falling behind on the original plan and considered it unachievable to catch up so decided I needed to extend my research period and stat writing my first draft later.  Over the Christmas holiday I did less work that what was first planned and didn't feel ready to begin writing as I felt that my research still had gaps that needed to be filled first. I have extended the research and citation by a week til the 13th of January and postponed writing til the 4th of January as I believe then I will have some sections fully ...

23/11/25 Weekly EPQ Update  This Week: Monday- EPQ lecture on consent, bias and primary research. I have decided to not do primary research as I risk breaching on sensitive topics and don't think think I would be able collect substantial enough data for it to be effective in my essay. Tuesday- I listened to The Health Gap – Exploring gender inequalities in UK healthcare podcast episode on the train to and from school. Wednesday- I spent time evaluating what referencing method would be most beneficial for me Harvard or footnotes. Thursday- I had a maths test so spent extra time revising for that. Friday- Watched the TedTalk Breaking the Silence on Women's Health | Ann-Marie de Lange    Saturday- I was suppose to evaluate my sources that I have looked into so far but found it hard to motivate myself as I found the process rather confusing to get my head around so instead began to look into different methods of evaluation. Sunday- I wrote my weekly blog and p...

Research Analysis

30/11/26 Research Analysis When it comes to evaluating my sources I was originally using the RAVEN technique as during my EPQ on evaluating sources I thought this would be the technique I worked with best. However, when it came to evaluating my sources I was putting it off and starting to fall behind on my Gannt chart and I believed this was due to me not having a clear process as I was originally using a table with the RAVEN technique but have since switch to separate documents with each source with a modified process of both the RAVEN and CRAAP test. This is because I found it easier to understand what to do and this allowed me to get back on track with my Gantt chart.   Source name:   Source Type:   Link:   Citation:   Author/Publishing House:   Date Published  and Location :   Summary:   Credibility: (evaluate scholar for reliability and  expertise  (and consider if it was a firsthand experience and knowledge in the subject ...

Essay Structure

30/12/25 Essay Structure I have created an essay plan after doing enough research to point I feel prepared to know exactly what section I would like the explore within my essay. I have created this structure to help me categorise my research into the section and identify any gaps that need further research. This is also designed to help me reference the sources as I write as I will separate the facts I want to use into the section to try and make it clear and not confusing when it comes to finding particular information from a specific source. I have chosen to do Harvard referencing as they is the most common type of referencing used in the sources I have read and in many scientific essays. Additionally, I have decided to include an abstract as that is used in many of my sources and is often included in scientific articles so that my essay is cohesive with other similar articles in the scientific and medical field.  Essay Plan: - Abstract (which I will write last) - Introduction - ...
